Björklidens Stugby

Björkliden is Åland’s oldest cottage village, dating back to the mid-1950s. There were three cottages on the site before Björkliden Guesthouse was built in 1958. Today, there are 12 simple summer cottages with sleeping space for 2–5 people in a natural green area with open spaces, a shallow sandy beach, and a swimming raft. There is also an electric beach sauna and a fantastic sunset in the west behind the Marsund Bridge.
Björkliden’s philosophy is about reuse and preservation. They update second-hand items and complement with new ones to maintain Björkliden’s character as much as possible. No cottage is the same; both furniture and details differ, making them “personal.”
 
All cottages have a toilet with a small shower, a kitchenette with a hob or stove with oven, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, and toaster, as well as dishes, glasses, cutlery, grill tools, etc., for the number of people in the cottage. The kitchen includes a starter kit with dish soap, brush, sponge, cloth, and bags for bio-waste. Waste sorting is mandatory. Beds have mattress toppers, duvets, and pillows; some cottages have bunk beds. Table fan.
 
There is a jetty with the possibility of booking a berth for your own boat when booking your cottage. Boats with or without motors can be rented directly from the host (cashless payment), and life jackets are available in sizes 10–20 kg, 30–50 kg, 50–70 kg, and 70–90+ kg. Cribs, high chairs, and potties are available for rent subject to availability.
 
Pets are welcome for a fee (cashless payment) in cottages 11, 13–17; however, dogs are not allowed on the beach area. Please inform us if you bring pets when booking.
 
By the beach is the beach house, which includes a lounge with TV and a small library as well as a sauna. There are courts for badminton and volleyball, plus a sandbox and swings.
 
Free wireless Wi-Fi in the area.
There is no possibility to charge electric cars on the premises.
 
From Björkliden, it is close to Wildlife Safari, Eckerö Golf, hiking trails, disc golf, and many beautiful beaches. A bit further away are several museums, and in Mariehamn, you’ll find the Mariebad swimming hall. Discover all the small summer cafés around Åland, where you can also find many locally produced products.
