Björklidens Stugby

Björkliden is Åland’s oldest cottage village, with roots dating back to the mid-1950s. There were originally three cottages on the property before Pension Björkliden was built in 1958. Today, there are 12 simple summer cottages that can accommodate 2–5 people, located in a nature-friendly green area with open spaces, a shallow sandy beach, and a swimming raft. There's also a beach sauna (electric) and a stunning sunset in the west behind the Marsund Bridge.

Björkliden’s philosophy is based on reuse and preservation; they update secondhand items and complement them with new ones to maintain Björkliden’s original character as much as possible. Each cottage is unique, with varying furniture and details, making them feel "personal."

All cottages have a WC with a small shower, a kitchenette with a hotplate or a stove with an oven, a fridge with a freezer compartment, a microwave, a coffee maker, a kettle, and a toaster, as well as dishes, glasses, cutlery, and grilling tools for the number of people staying. In the kitchen, there’s a starter kit with dish soap, a brush, a sponge, a cloth, and bags for compostable waste. Waste sorting is mandatory. Each bed has a mattress topper, duvet, and pillow, with some cottages featuring bunk beds. There’s also a table fan.

There’s a jetty with space for booking your own boat docking when you reserve a cottage. Boats with or without motors are available for rent (directly from the host), and life vests are available to borrow in sizes 10–20 kg, 30–50 kg, 50–70 kg, and 70–90+ kg. Cribs, high chairs, and potties can be rented subject to availability. Pets are welcome in cottages 11, 13–17, though they’re not allowed on the sandy beach. Please notify us if you’re bringing pets when booking.

By the beach is the beach house, which has a common room with a TV and a small library, as well as a sauna. There are courts for badminton and volleyball, plus a sandbox and swings.

Free wireless Wi-Fi is available on the property.

Björkliden is close to Smartpark, wildlife safaris, Eckerö Golf, hiking trails, disc golf, and many beautiful beaches. A bit further away, there are several museums, and in Mariehamn, you’ll find the Mariebad swimming pool. Discover all the charming summer cafés around Åland, many of which offer locally produced products.

Marsund offers excellent fishing waters, with the fishing season at Björkliden running from May–June and August–September. There’s a covered cleaning station.
